According to Wikipedia, the definition of Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings. If that is the case, then everywhere you look or go in Soulard there is art to be found. From the bike racks made out of spare bike parts, hand-crafted jewelry from one of the local shops, or the murals and ghost signs painted on buildings in Soulard, and yes, even the YouTube videos posted from our favorite Islander -- art is truly everywhere to behold. Here are two great art galleries that you should stop by and check out. Mad Art (pictured below left) likes to exhibit emerging and established artists through exhibitions, concerts, film, and special performances. Mad Art Gallery is located on 2727 S. 12th Street, St. Louis, MO 63118. They have private and public events and exhibitions quite often. Soulard Art Market & Contemporary Gallery (pictured above right) features monthly exhibitions in their main gallery that showcase a rotating selection of talented artists. S.A.M. showcases the area's most respected artists working in a variety of media including drawing, painting, digital and traditional photography, mixed media, sculpture, and jewelry. Soulard Art Market is located on 2028 S. 12th Street, Saint Louis, MO 63104. Free and open to the public.
