The Soulard neighborhood is one of a few lucky spots in St. Louis City where you can bicycle safely through the streets by following the painted bike lanes (pictured below left) -- as long as you are wearing a bicycle helmet!

As bike-friendly as our neighborhood is, you might think there would be more places available to secure your bike than those located at these four places -- Soulard Market (pictured above center and right), The Shanti, Hammerstone's, and BWORKS (see below). (Are there any more Soulard bike racks that I have missed? Please let me know email@Soulard.info)

Saint Louis BWORKS recently moved into the Old Carriage Factory on 2414 Menard Street. They offer a wonderful Earn-a-Bike program for free to children between 8 and 15. Your child must be able to attend hands-on classes for six consecutive Saturdays where he/she will learn about bikes, including maintenance and safety. After attending every session and graduating, your child will receive his/her own bike, helmet, light and lock and participate in a group safety ride with adults and peers.

The Banana Bike Brigade is a "Parading Art Bike Group" most famous for their annual appearance in the Soulard Mardi Gras parade.
